Family van Vuuren
in Zambia
A mission in the heart of Zambia
The Vuuren family lives in the heart of Zambia, in the middle of dusty Kabwe. At the beginning of 2018, they exchanged the forests of the Veluwe for a life in Zambia. It took some getting used to the climate, the culture and life far away from family and friends. But here, in the midst of what God is doing, they feel at home. After serving in Zambia for two years, they started the Elyada Centre. Here, they are committed to restoring the land and restoring hearts.
A shared calling
Jan and Roos van Vuuren form a close-knit team together with their three children, Yaelle (2012), Eloïse (2014) and David (2016). Yaelle, the eldest, is full of life and creativity. Eloïse, the dancing princess, can spend hours playing with dolls and Barbies. David, the adventurer, brings up the rear and discovers new things in nature every day. Their children enjoy the freedom that comes with growing up in Africa, but sometimes miss their family and friends in the Netherlands.
Jan is entrepreneurial and has a passion for natural agriculture and sustainability. He believes that making money and helping people can go hand in hand. Roos, trained as a creative therapist, uses drawing, painting and horses to help people tell their stories and find new insights. Together they form a team that focuses on restoring land and hearts.
Become part of their mission
Jan and Roos work hard every day in Kabwe to restore land and hearts. To continue this work, they depend on support.
Would you like to help make their work possible? You can make a difference through prayer, practical involvement or a financial contribution. Together, we can help Zambia flourish.

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.”
