A single food forest provides an entire village with access to fresh food, employment and a greener future. The trees that grow here serve as the starting point for the wider greening of the surrounding fields and villages.
When you order a Community Food Forest, you are funding the creation of a (fully) established food forest in a village in Malawi. The food forest is fenced off to protect valuable trees and crops from roaming animals, and equipped with a well so that crops can be grown even during the dry season.
The food forest provides the village with access to fresh food all year round and acts as a living seed bank; farmers collect seeds and cuttings here for their own fields. In this way, greening slowly spreads from one central location to the entire surrounding area. The food forest remains the property of the village and is managed by the residents themselves, for years to come.
