Arvore da Vida

Árvore da Vida has since been completed and put into use as a health center.

The site is located in a densely populated area, where people live mostly in poverty. Nearby is a market where about 25,000 people pass daily.

Construction work

Construction began in January 2021 on a 1020 m2 plot. Part of the center offers healthcare services. Five consulting rooms were built for this purpose, including two for maternal and child care (including prenatal care), a pharmacy, a basic laboratory and a treatment room.

Various trainings

The plan was to set up another part of the center for multipurpose rooms to conduct trainings in the areas of:

  • Training women to become health ambassadors;
  • Training recovered patients to become ambassadors;
  • Teaching women vocational skills to provide a source of income;
  • Education on healthy nutrition for mother and child, using local vegetables, fruits and herbs that are easy to grow;
  • Training in sustainable agriculture for food security.
